Introduction
Benefits are the core key concept for the Insurance and Benefit module. They tie back to deductions in payroll to help you quickly roll out deduction changes and track offer's of coverage for Affordable Care Act Reporting.
Explanation
Detail Tab
Benefit Code - The unique identifier for each benefit
Benefit Type - determines which details are available on the Benefits Master Detail.
H - Health
- Required for IRS Forms 1094-B and 1095-B and 1094-C and 1095-C
- Adds the "Dependents Tab" on the Benefits Master Detail .
L - Life
- Adds the "Dependents Tab" on Enter/Edit Insurance and Benefits Master Detail Window
A - Additional
State Plan - only applies to South Carolina configurations. Used in conjunction with the SC EIP website. Contact Harris Support for the appropriate codes to be used.
Payroll Deduction - identifies which deduction will be updated by each benefit.
Computation Method - specify whether the benefit is calculated as a percent or a variable amount. This should be the same as the the computation method from the Payroll deduction.
Default employer cost - used when adding a new benefit to an employee.
Default premium - used when adding a new benefit to an employee.
Print/Display Order - determines the order that the benefits will appear on screens and reports.

Heath Benefit Details
Import code This field is used during the import of dependent benefit information. This field is UPPER case
Multi-employer arrangement benefit Visible for benefits with a benefit type of "Health Benefit". Check this option if the benefit meets the requirements of the Interim Guidance Regarding Multi-employer Arrangements for IRS form 1095-C. Employees with this benefit will use code 2E on box 16 of the 1095-C, if applicable and dependents won't be reported on the 1095-C part III.
Employer-sponsored self-insured health plan Visible for benefits with a benefit type of "Health Benefit". Check this option if this benefit meets the IRS requirements for an "Employer-sponsored self-insured health plan" for IRS form 1095-C. Employees with this benefit will have 1095-C part III filled out on the 1095-C report.
Rate Table Tab
Rate tables specify deduction amount changes to premium or employer cost and when to change them.
The effective date is very important and is used in the “Update Insurance Premiums/Benefit Amounts from Rate Tables” option when updating changes to the employee’s records.
Available Interfaces and Options
Interfaces are turned on via the license file using SFConf. Some options/interfaces are also turned on based on some other settings set in system parameters, configuration, or other places.

EDL codeHarris has added Colonial plan codes to the benefit parameter in order to download more complete information to them. Harris will set the Colonial flags automatically on many of the EIP benefits but there are some benefits that will be more detailed in Colonial and you will need to edit these flags.
These codes were cross-walked based on the EIP codes in the Benefits parameter:

Option to display Additional Benefit Offsets
This option does not have a front end. To change this value must be changed in the database. To do so query the ConfigurationItem table for Category = IB and Name = ShowAdditionalBenefitOffsets. Change ConfigurationItemValue to TRUE or FALSE
