Explanation
The delinquent tax report shows information such as total taxes, exemptions, net, as well as balance subject to penalty and what will be applied as a penalty
Report Options
Delinquent Date - Apply penalties based on the delinquent date specified. Any transactions after the delinquent date entered will not be considered when calculating the penalties.
Report Sequence - Sequence that the report will print
Minimum amount to be checked - Report will only include bills that have a subject to penalty balance higher than the value specified
Exempt partial payment agreement - Do not include bills that have an agreement set up as long as the paid by date is later than the delinquent date
Don't include homestead properties - Do not include any bills that have a homestead exemption tied to themLate charge information
Enter Amount - Manually enter the penalty amount you wish to apply
Tax Year Penalty Percent - Enter the percentage to be multiplied by the balance to calculate the penalty amount to be charged.Note: If this option is selected you also have the ability to set a minimum penalty amount. If the calculated amount is less than the amount specified the minimum amount is charged
Update Late Charges - You may choose to actually apply the late charges or just see the report to view what penalties would be applied. Even if this option is checked once the report is run the program will verify with the user before actually charging the penalties
Transaction Date - If you choose to apply penalties you must select the transaction date to use for the penalties
Transaction Code - You must also specify the transaction code to apply the penalties against
Distribute penalty against individual transactions - This option can be used instead of specifying a transaction code. If this option is used it will breakdown the penalty amount to charge and put the individual amounts against penalty transaction codes set up for each charge that makes up the balance on the bill
Tax Types - Select which tax types to run the report for
Tax years - Select which tax years to run the report for
Tax Districts - Select which tax districts to run the report for
Create export file - If this is checked then it will create the exported xlsx file (Delinquent Tax Export File Format)
Enter file name - The file path where the exported file will saved.
Report Output
If Tax Year Penalty Percent is selected in the Late Charge Information and if Calculate penalty on original bill amount IS NOT selected in the Tax Collection System File, then the penalty will be calculated based on the amount owed
If Tax Year Penalty Percent is selected in the Late Charge Information and if Calculate penalty on original bill amount IS selected in the Tax Collection System File then the penalty will be calculated based on the original bill amount;
A penalty percent cap can be set in Tax Year Parameters which will limit the total penalties by the cap. The cap is calculated using the original subject to penalty bill amount. The system will default to 0 for the maximum penalty percentage cap; therefore no cap will be enforced unless a percentage is entered.
