Description

AL customers have the option to use the contribution only RSA file format. The contributions groups will be set on the Employee Master screen and the employer unit code determines which groups to include in the export file. All employees, even if they are not contributing, must be reported. Each payment frequency will have a separate header and footer record.

Overtime Cap Explanation

AL customers have an overtime cap in place to help determine the employee contribution for overtime pay types. This is referring specifically to pay types with the "Pay type is considered overtime" checkbox checked and that are subject to retirement in the pay types parameter form.

The calculation for this uses the employees's class configured on the Enter/Edit Payroll Master screen to determine which tier to use.

The Tier percentage is configured on page 4 of the payroll system file.

To determine if the employee has reached the overtime cap, the system will use the following calculation: The cap is calculated by the employee's annual wage configured on the salary account tab multiplied by the tier percentage. If the YTD overtime amount for the fiscal year (dates configured in the payroll system file) for that specific pay type is greater than the cap, that pay type for the employee will no longer contribute to retirement for the remainder of the fiscal year.
