Overview

The Pay - Overview screen allows employees to view Check History and Earnings Summary.

If Role Permissions permit, the user will see a 'View W2' button if they have previous year earnings. Clicking this button will bring up a second window to enter the year and verify the employee's SSN. If the SSN matches what is on file, the employee's W2 will be loaded in a second window and from there, will be printable.

Check History

The list of checks reflects all payroll checks for the employee in SmartFusion that have not been voided or rolled back. If a check that has been previously rolled back is still visible, a sync should be run with the sync setting of "TrigerReset" set to true to clear the check from ESS. Reference ESS-Sync-Issues-Explained for more details.

By clicking on a specific check in the Check History, Employees will be able to view the Check Details including all earnings and withholdings that applied to the check.

A general setting can be turned on to show only checks up to today's date. Otherwise, all data synced will show up.

Troubleshooting Tips

I'm not seeing the latest update - If you are on the newest version but aren't seeing the last update, please be sure to clear your cache. Go to your browser settings and search for the clear browsing data options. You may also try running in incognito.

The 'View W2' page isn't loading - If the W2 page does not show up after entering the Year and SSN, make sure the browser's popup blocker isn't preventing the W2 form from showing.

The data displayed on the W2 is incorrect - The 'View W2' is a relatively new feature in ESS and all ESS clients will need to trigger a reset ('TriggerReset' sync setting) because all the check data will need to be re-synced.

Changes Prior to Version 1/4/2019

1.0.6773.26207
- Bug fix for Open Windows where if deduction code existed in multiple tables, it was getting overridden in the sync (example: One customer had 'HSA F' in wprdedm and wprret so we were only getting one checkdetailtype of fringe). This caused the deduction to not appear in ESS.

1.0.6730.33429
-Added employer cost grid which can be turned on from general settings
-Added general setting to show only checks up to today's date.

1.0.6599.33855
-Correction to W2 earnings to be calculated based on check date rather than pay date

1.0.6540.33037
-Users will now have the ability to view W2s from this screen if Role Permissions allows them to.

1.0.6520.39954
-Users will now see local taxes withheld (This will not impact any current customers though because we do not have any customers with local taxes on ESS)

1.0.6312.33301
-ESS will no longer display payroll checks that have been voided in SF
