Introduction

This screen serves the purpose of configuring the account structure.

Defining the Account Structure

The account number is user-defined and it may include up to 40 alphanumeric characters and have a wide variety of segments. To define the structure:

1. Go to the Organization tab under the System File menu and enter the account structure. A sample entry is ###-###-###-####-## where the segments are: fund, function, object, modifier, and location.
2. Go to the Fund Ledger tab under the Accounting Tab in the system file to define the starting position, and the length of each segment.

NOTE: The dash between each segment must be considered when counting the number of positions in the account number.

NOTE: You do not need to complete the Report Subtotal Levels section unless your organization plans to use Header accounts. This feature provides backwards compatibility with our DOS product and is typically not used any longer.
